Hong Kong Vibes

Life in Hong Kong is known to be fast, crowded, hectic, loud… sometimes rude, even confusing…often stifling hot and uncomfortably humid. Yet living in this exciting and energising cauldron of activities is addictive and exhilarating… at least for most of us… The daily hustle across busy streets among imposing skyscrapers, elbowing your way through local and tourist bodies alike towards your next destination may be challenging and exhausting to the casual observer or hapless visitor, but it’s part of what makes this city unique for those who have embraced its ways and charms. Because they know that exposure to these daily urban disagreeablenesses (…jeeez…) and pressures are just fleeting, short-lived inconveniences.
Usually one finds themselves just few steps away from grabbing a cab, entering an apartment or chilling out at a cha chaan teng, club house, restaurant, luxury retailer, hotel lobby lounge or a favorite bar or simply escaping this proverbial beehive madness by putting on shades and earphones, connected to one of those devilish mobile devices playing excruciatingly loud canto pop while wriggling their way forward through the crowds. Unsurprisingly that this is the prevailing vision of this city that most casual observers can easily get comfortable with. Yet there are less obvious aspects of Hong Kong that may surprise some of the holiday visitors, traveling businessmen and newcomers… or anyone that has neither taken the time or shown the interest to get to know this place… Hong Kong is a metropolis full of truly kind, caring and superbly creative people… a city full of fantastic food outlets and restaurants and passionate, talented private chefs… a haven for hikers and wanderers to remote villages and outlying islands… full of travel fanatics and explorers, great photographers and galleries… a hotbed of arts and brilliant musical talents… and a city whose inhabitants are extremely inquisitive and curious and enjoy socializing like no other….

At urban rene:ssance we are living the CurioCity dream and will do whatever it takes to captures its culinary, musical and cultural vibes through our sparsely worded posts. We do hope you enjoy them and look forward to your comments and ideas!

Thanks for being here…
